The Honorable Senior Secretary of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Mr. Md Alamgir joined the Election Commission Secretariat on 10 June as Secretary, and was subsequently promoted to Senior Secretary on 16 September 2019. Prior to this, he worked as Technical and Madrasah Education Department, Secretary in the Ministry of Education and as Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education.

Mr. Mohammad Alamgir started his career as assistant commissioner of the BCS Administration Cadre in 1986 at the office of Sylhet Deputy Commissioner. After that, he performed duties honestly and devotedly in different important positions of government at home and abroad at different times. He is the Director General of the Bureau of Non-formal Education, Dhaka City Corporation (South) and additional secretary at the expatriate welfare and overseas employment ministry, and took many training in the country and abroad.

In his education, Md. Alamgir received honors from the Department of Economics of Dhaka University in 1982 and in 1983 he earned his M.S.S. Md. Alamgir was born on 3/02/1962 in Harirampur Upazila of Manikganj district. He is married and blessed with one son and one daughter.
